Empowering Farmworkers,

Strengthening Communities

Many of our staff and several board members are former farmworkers or come from farmworker families. Notably, several are graduates of our job training program who have chosen to give back to their communities.

Our flagship program is our workforce development initiative, primarily funded through the National Farmworker Jobs Program, a Department of Labor training initiative. This program helps farmworkers and their families secure higher-paying, more stable jobs, both within and outside of agriculture, and assists farmworker youth in attending college.

Founded in 1979, the Nevada Human Development Corporation (NHDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving farmworkers and their families. As the only culturally specific community action agency in Nevada, NHDC provides job training and various resources through northern Nevada.

NHDC is proud to be an organization supporting the farmworkers and their families, from the Washoe, Lyon, Churchill, Pershing, Humboldt, Carson City and Douglas counties.
